Lie To Me.
Lie to me in all honesty
Speak of things that aren't so,
That lies, although deceptive,
Are all there is to know.
Lie to me, oh, lie to me
I can't hold on no more.
Remind me of past glories
And battles fought before.
Lies fill me with the hope
And strength that does deceive.
Falsehood never failed me,
'Tis Truth I can't forgive.
Lie to me a final time
O' look me in the eyes,
And tell me that I've won
In spite of my demise.
Wrote this some time ago and well, I've realized these days that although lies do help to shield one from the starkness of reality, they never help in the long run. You know how it is when the longer you close your eyes to block out the sharpness of sunlight, the more painful those rays of light seem when you finally open them? The worst thing is, they're still there. And they hurt your eyes even more so than before. Same goes for lies. You can wrap yourself in lies to hide from the truth but when you finally do face up to it, you'll find that the same old problems are there awaiting you. The only thing different is - they're worse off than before, and they hurt more.
We just never learn, do we.
