The Global Nomad.

Coming back home is the hardest thing to do.

Some people say the only culture shock they really got was when they returned home.

How true.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch your thinking change over time:

What does "home" mean to you?

What do you like or hate about your own culture?

Who are your real friends?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

On the road, you will meet alot of locals admiring your courage as a global nomad. Inspire them to travel and find out for themselves.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch out for the dangerous Lonely Planet effect -

Most of the places described in it as 'laid-back' and 'untouched' have ten times to one already been visited and spoiled by the 1.9 million tourists who have also decided to purchase for themselves a Lonely Planet guidebook, like you did.

Commercialization is infectious.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Always bring along some music with you.

Having a soundtrack playing at the back of your head to accompany your experiences -

Climbing the steps of Angkor Wat, watching the mountains go by on a long bus ride, feeling the seabreeze in your hair whilst on the deck of a boat with the sun beating down on your face..

- these are the things that your memory will piece together everytime that particular song or tune plays, even after those experiences are long gone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Think about it this way:

When you are young, you will have the time to travel, but not the money.

When you are old, you will have the money to travel, but not the time.

How do you plan on finding the balance?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Travelling reflections are good for the mind and soul.
